What is involved when I sign up for fiber or wireless installation? What should I expect?
Typically, after expressing interest in signing up for service customer service representatives will get in touch with you to finalize your sign up and schedule your installation date.
Next, if you signed up for fiber, construction technicians will run the outside fiber line to your home or business before your scheduled installation date. On the scheduled installation date, a technician will arrive at your home or business to install equipment inside.
If you signed up for wireless the process begins with verifying coverage and clear line-of-sight to the nearest tower or access point, followed by a site survey to determine optimal placement for the customer premises equipment (CPE). A technician mounts the outdoor radio/antenna, typically a directional 5 GHz or 60 GHz unit, on the roof or building exterior and aligns it using signal-strength metrics such as RSSI and SNR to ensure a stable wireless link. A weather-sealed Ethernet cable is routed inside and connected to a PoE injector or gateway, which then feeds your WiFi router to distribute service throughout the home. Once installed, throughput, latency, and link quality are tested (e.g., modulation rates, packet loss, and jitter) before activating the your account and finalizing the configuration.
